YOUR SUPPORT IS A PROFOUND SERVICE.

We're SO grateful you're getting involved.

We are a true grassroots organization - no salaries, no bonuses, no office buildings. With the exception of reimbursing our volunteers' fuel costs, every single dollar we receive goes directly towards our service initiatives and programs. We rely solely on collective action, which is why your support means everything - to us, and to the families we serve.

Your donation goes a long way, and there are so many ways to help. We truly appreciate each and every effort made. By lending your support, you’ll hold a powerful role in lifting these families out of poverty and empowering their future.

JANE'S STORY

Meet Jane - a single mother and devoted grandmother who lives in Ndibai, Kenya. Ndibai is dry, hot area that has minimal opportunities to grow crops due to the incessant drought. Jane takes care of her son, John, as well as her granddaughter Jenny. Her mother and extended family also rely on her to keep them afloat.

When we began working with Jane and creating her empowerment plan,  we had to consider the family members that depended on Jane as well. She had previously faced social ridicule for her economic despair, and for being a single mother whose husband deserted her.

After constructing a permanent residence for Jane and sponsoring her son John's education for several years, S.E.A. purchased the land plot for Jane, giving her the rare opportunity to be a female land owner (1/8 acre of land is worth approximately $500-1000 USD in that area).

When all was said and done, S.E.A. was able to build Jane a real home, along with a clean water tank, chicken coop, goats, and crops. As a result of this intervention, Jane is well on her way to becoming a successful female business owner and providing for herself, her children, grandchildren, and extended family.

Her son, John, has attended school since kindergarten and is now attending a boys boarding school in Naivasha. John's education means everything - it changes the landscape and legacy of his family, and will break the cycle of poverty for future generations.
